On November 29, 2016, the Coquitlam Firefighter’s Charitable Society (CFFCS) donated $3,000 to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF) for the purchase of a new Pediatric Bronchoscope.
What is a pediatric bronchoscope? It is a medical instrument that allows the doctor to view the patient’s airway and lungs. It is often used in biopsies (removal of small sample of tissue) to diagnose a patient’s condition or illness. In this case, pediatric, it is a lot smaller to accommodate the airway size of a child. Scary to think that a child needs to have such a procedure, however it can prove to be life saving when diagnosing and treating early.
Kudos to the ERHF for raising the over $50,000 (price tag for this device) and being able to provide this and other medical procedures within our community for our children. These important initiatives continue to help our vision of creating a healthier, connected, and enriched community.
We are a group of volunteers and Firefighters in the Coquitlam City doing what we can to give back "Into Our Community!"
